MORTON PLANT MEASE 2ND CENTURY CAMPAIGN
In these challenging economic times, our challenge is not only to maintain community support for the hospitals of Morton Plant Mease Health Care, but also to preserve and enhance our current services and facilities. We hope that you will join us once again as we embark on the second phase of our 2nd Century Campaign, which requires raising an additional $50 million by 2012 towards our $110 million campaign goal.
As we embark on the most comprehensive campaign in our history, only the infusion of private dollars can jump start this process. The Foundation’s Board of Directors has challenged our community to raise the additional $50 million in the following areas:
- Cancer Campaign, chaired by Ruth duPont: $10 million
- Doyle Women's and Children's Health Initiative, led by Roz Doyle: $25 million
- Campaign for Mease Dunedin Hospital, chaired by Nancy Ridenour: $10 million
- Campaign for Morton Plant North Bay Hospital, chaired by Dewey Mitchell: $5 million
Cancer Campaign - Planning for a Brighter Future
You should not have to leave behind family, friends and the place where you feel most comfortable to get the most advanced and compassionate cancer care. Morton Plant Mease is the community's leader in cancer care and continues to grow with 3,000 new cancers diagnosed and treated annually. Our network of cancer care is strengthened by a partnership with H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Care Center and Research Institute, which enables us to offer patients an even wider array of treatment options and research opportunities.
Additionally, with the addition of the da Vinci Surgical System® to our surgical suites at Mease Countryside and Morton Plant hospitals, Morton Plant Mease continues to set a new standard of care in the surgical treatment of prostate and gynecological cancers.
Robotic technology enables surgeons to combine their skilled hands and critical judgment with the precision and sensitivity of robotic assistance to perform minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures. The result is changing and improving the surgical experience for patients. To learn more about our commitment to cancer excellence, please click here.

Campaign For Mease Dunedin Hospital
Mease Dunedin Hospital is growing to meet the community’s health care needs with a $19 million, multi-phase project that includes a new critical care unit and state-of-the-art surgery department for orthopaedic and neurosurgery procedures.
Featuring 20 private rooms and a family lounge in a spa-like atmosphere, the new CCU was designed to offer greater comfort and convenience. Rooms are equipped to allow caregivers 360-degree access to patients, and include advanced patient monitoring systems, nurse documentation stations, flatscreen TVs, and more. For completely incapacitated patients, eight rooms are equipped with ceiling mounted lift systems to move patients safely and with ease.
The $12 million OR expansion project, scheduled to open in 2011, will increase the number of ORs from four to seven and double the size to meet the increased demand for neurosurgeries and orthopaedic procedures and the state-of-art equipment necessary to perform them. This includes digital equipment and voice activation to view X-rays and other test results through voice command, as well as a fully integrated electronic medical record system.
Campaign For Morton Plant North Bay Hospital
A brand new Morton Plant North Bay Hospital is beginning to take shape. The $49 million new construction and expansion plan that will nearly double the size of the hospital campus is well underway. Construction of a three-story medical office building featuring physician offices, an expanded sleep disorders unit, laboratory services and outpatient rehabilitation services is anticipated to begin this summer. In addition to the medical office building, the new construction and expansion project includes a new three-story patient wing offering additional private patient beds, a new intensive care unit, cardiac unit, medical surgical unit, new respiratory care services and community education facilities. The project also includes a new walk-in clinic, expansion of the Mitchell Rehabilitation Hospital and renovations to the emergency room with improved efficiencies for patients and physicians. The project creates a comprehensive, community-based medical complex that will allow Morton Plant North Bay to grow and change with the New Port Richey and West Pasco communities. Construction is anticipated to be complete by the end of 2010. To learn more about Morton Plant North Bay Hospital, please click here.
